Individual Note:
     Kenneth (Arthur) Smithgall is thought to have lived with the Aaron Murray (Aaron Murray) family in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming Co., PA in 1910, according to the census. (E.D. 63; Visit 148)

The WWI Draft Registration Card Information:
Kenneth Arthur Smithgall Age: 21 b. December 7, 1895 in Hillsgrove, PA. He is a machinst with the Lycoming Foundry and Machine Co., Williamsport, PA. He has a dependent wife and three children. He is tall, medium build with blue eyes and light hair and is not bald. He has a problem with his left foot. Signed Kenneth Arthur Smithgall, June 5, 1917. Registered in Muncy Creek Twp. Lycoming Co., PA.

The 1920 Federal Census lists Kenath Smithgall, 24 and his wife, Freda, 22 living in Ralston, McIntyre Twp., Lycoming Co., PA. Both were born in PA. Kenneth is a laborer in a tannery. They have no children.

There is no divorce record for Kenneth Arthur Smithgall and Ethel V. Fry in Lycoming County or Clinton County.

Kenneth Arthur Smithgall's death certificate states that he was married but there is no wife's name listed. It also states that he was unemployed, born in Hillsgrove, PA and buried in Marysville, PA; however, there is a grave marker in the Montoursville Cemetery. Esther Smithgall Pacacha Good, his daughter, stated that she remembered attending his wake in Williamsport and him holding a lily. One of his descendant's speculates that he went to Harrisburg (Marysville) for Thanksgiving to visit his brother, Palmer, father Samuel and uncle William. Thanksgiving Day would have been Thursday, November 26, 1925, the day before his death. He died in of diabetic shock in Harrisburg Hospital, Dauphin Co., PA.

The funeral of Kenneth Smithgall, who died at Marysville, Pa., a few days ago will be held at the Methodist Episcopal Church, at this place, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o;clock. The rev. S.F. Rounsley will conduct the services and burial will take place in the local cemetery.

Research Note: Arthur and Palmer probably became acquainted with the Gawblick girls during their childhood in Hillsgrove.

     Ethel was not listed as living with her parents in the 1910 census.

The 1930 Federal Census list Ethel V. Smithgall, 35, widowed, married at 18, living at 923 Meade Street, Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA (near the 1200 block of Sherman St.) . Others listed in the family: daughters, Mary, 18; Mabel, 16; son, Frederick, 14; and daughter, Esther 13. Ethel was born in PA, her father born in PA and her mother born in New Jersey. Ethel is not employed, but Mary and Mabel are labors in paper novelties. Ethel rents the house and pays $18 per month. Mary and Mabel did not attend school since Sept. 1, 1929. Fred and Esther do attend school. All can read and write.

Mrs. Ethel V. Jury, 56, wife of Frank L. Jury of 805 Center Street, died at her home at 8 am Monday, October 9, 1950 after an illness of two years.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Frederick L. Smithgall of Duncannon, and three daughters; Mrs. Mary Nichols, Mrs. Mabel Miele, Mrs. Esther Pacha (Pacacha); two brothers, John W. Fry and Stuart Henry Fry, and two sisters, Mrs. Marian Lloyd and Mrs. Edna Ford, all of Williamsport. There are eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm Thursday at the funeral home at 733 Broad Street, Montoursville. The Rev. William C. Watson of the Bethany Prysbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the White Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday.

Gene Miele to Open New Store in City
Gene Miele, well known local sports official, will open a new clothing store under the name of Gene's Pants Shop at 32 W. Willow Street, Friday morning.
Mr. Miele has been engaged in the clothing industry for nearly 15 years in Williamsport. He has been with Concord Clothes for the last three and a half years and with Stearns Brothers for 10 years prior to that time.
Active in softball circles, Mr. Miele is currently the president of the Williamsport Softball Umpires Association. Fraternally, he heads the Sons of Italy Lodge and is active in other organizations.
