Individual Note: Story on Auto accident killing Bejamin Kiess and his son Stabler appears in the Gazette & Bulletin, Saturday, September 4, 1937. A head-on auto accident occured on at 6:45 pm on Friday, September 3, 1937 on Route 115 (now Route 87) between Farragut and Loyalsockville at the entrance to Calvert's. Driving the southbound vehicle were Elmer Kurtz, 23 of Warrensville; the Kiess men, Leslie Houseknecht, 30, and Sidney Gair, 19 were passengers. The northbound car was driven by Raymond Marshall with passenger, Miss Marian Confer , 33, who were en route to a cabin party on the Loyalsock. Mr. Kurtz had just purchased his car the day before and it was reported to have been travelling at a high rate of speed.
