We learn that a man named VOUGH, residing in Forks Twp., while chopping in the woods a short time since, came to his death in a most shocking manner. He in company with another man was engaged in felling trees, and cutting one partly off, in falling, it lodged in another, consequently did not come to the ground. Mr. VOUGH passed under the lodged tree for the purpose of cutting it off the stump, when it fell crushing him to the earth and mangling him in most shocking manner. His skull was so badly fractured that a portion of the brain ran out upon his shoulder. He was otherwise frightfully mutilated. He was taken home and medical aid procured, but he survived only a few hours. Mr. V. was a sober and industrious man, and leaves a wife and many friends to mourn his untimely death.

Individual Note: Eliza Vough Grange, widow of John W. Grange, died June 5, 1910, at her home at Wheaton, Ill., aged 77 years, after an illness of about 8 months. She was born near Montoursville, Pa, in 1833, and was a daughter of Hannah Winder Vough. Her father died when she was a little girl, her mother married a second time to Geoffrey Clark. The family then moved to Forks Township, Sullivan County, where she grew to womanhood, and married in 1851 to John Grange, of Eldredsville, Pa, who died in 1896.
Mr. and Mrs. Grange were blessed with 10 children, viz: Sumner of Wheaton, Ill.; Luther, Attorney at Law, Wheaton, Ill; Hinton of Spokane, Wash.; Walter, in California; Lyle, Arthur, Ernest and Bertha of Wheaton, Ill.; Dilie (Mrs. Thomas McCarty) of Eldredsville, and one daugher died at the age of 20 years.
Mrs. Grange had 4 brothers and 2 sisters, viz: Abram, Warren and David Vough, deceased of Forks township; the Rev. James Atherton Clark of Lovell, Wyo, Mary and Rebecca.
Mrs. Grange's ancestors on her mother's side were some of the first people to come to America, namely, the Winders, Hamiltons and Warrens. Two great grandfathers, David Hamilton and John Winder were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. Hamilton belonged to a company entitled "Rangers on the Frontiers" 1778 to 1783. Winder belonged to the German Regiment and died during the war, leaving a family of small children, among them Warren Winder, a lad of about 15 years, who also served his country during the struggle for independence, and was wounded in the head.
The body of Mrs. Grange was brought from Wheaton, Ill., to Sullivan county and interred at Bethel, Pa., where a large number of relatives and friends had gathered to pay their respect to a loving mother, a good and kind neighbor, one that will be greatly missed by the community at large, and beyond all else a very godly woman having served her Savior and Master since 13 years of age, or for 64 years. Rev. J. N. Bedford officiated, assisted by Rev. Dodd.
Among the many comforting words spoken to a sorrowing assemblage Mr. Bedford said, "Instead of singing a dirge, I would sooner you would sing a song of praise, of joy, of thanksgiving, for the soul of aunt Eliza is at rest, in heaven, safe in the arms of Jesus."
