Jennie R. DeRosa
New Castle woman was co-owner of DeRosa Bakery
Jennie R. DeRosa, 401 Winter Road, New Castle, died Saturday morning (12-01-01) in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. She was 78.
She was born March 8, 1923, in New Castle, to Arturo and Charlotte Matteo DiNucci.
Mrs. DeRosa was the former co-owner of DeRosa Bakery, New Castle.
She was a member of St. Vitus Church, New Castle.
Surviving are: her husband, Anthony DeRosa, Sr., whom she married Nov. 16, 1940, at home; two daughters, Dorinda Walsh, New Castle, and Toni Lee Butkowski, Clinton, Miss.; one son, Anthony DeRosa, Jr., Kinsman, Ohio; one sister, Delores Alessio, New Castle; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Mangino and Louise Dantonio; and four brothers, Michael, Steve, Tony and Frank.

Ocie Fry Ryder Gardner
Ocie Fry Ryder Gardner, 84, formerly of 283 Boak Ave., Hughesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville. Her first husband of 30 years, Jessie L. Ryder, died in 1974, and her second husband, Charles M. Gardner, died in 1998. She was born in Muncy Twp. on Dec. 17, 1918, the daughter of Narber P. and Beatrice Robb Fry.
Ocie worked for many years bottling milk for the former Fry’s Dairy. She was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Judith (Robert) Simmons of Hughesville; one grandson, Mark (Heather) Simmons; and a great-grandson, Shawn. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl and Clifford Fry of Muncy; four sisters, Hazel Hill and Stella Teeter, both of Hughesville and Beatrice Bay and Beverly Gardner, both of Muncy. Brothers, Harley, Rolland and Kenneth Fry; and sisters, Helen Drick, Isabell Winter and Ruth Whitmoyer, predecease her.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. David K. Fishel officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. The family will provide the flowers.

Earl T. Fry, 73, of 713 Chippewa Road, Muncy, PA, died on Friday, June 18, 2004 at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He and his wife, the former Marjorie Bieber, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on April 17. Born Nov. 18, 1930 in Muncy Township, he was a son of Narber P. and Beatrice Robb Fry.
Earl, a lifetime dairy farmer, also hauled milk for area farmers. He was a member of the Pennsdale United Methodist Church, the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and the Ticklish Rock Hunting Club. Earl enjoyed hunting and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, Earl is survived by four sons, Roderick (Ann) Fry of Cogan Station, Thomas (Debbie) Fry of Muncy, Woodrow (Ruth) Fry of Hughesville and Theodore (Angie) Fry, Muncy; five daughters, Audrey (Jack) Schupp of Benton, Lorrie (Jim) Schools of Wyalusing, Virginia Bitler of Hughesville, Doris (Wayne) Wagner of Muncy and Melissa (Jeff) Thomas of Montoursville; a brother, Clifford (Faye) Fry of Muncy; four sisters, Hazel Hill of Hughesville, Beatrice (LaRue) Bay, Stella (Brad) Teter and Beverly (Evon) Gardner, all of Muncy and 21 grandchildren, Lora Fry, Amanda and Kristen Fry, Travis and Brandon Schupp, Colton, Savannah, Jordan and Mitchell Schools, Philip and Hannah Bitler, Jacob, Joshua and J. Zachary Fry, Tyler Wagner, Jerrett, Jamison and Jase Thomas, Joshua and Adam Gochnauer and Amber Fry.
Earl is predeceased by three brothers, Hailey, Rolland and Kenneth Fry and four sisters, Isabelle Winters, Ruth Whitmoyer, Helen Drick and Ocie Gardner.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. William Gibson, his pastor, officiating. Interment was in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 21 at the funeral home. The family provided their own flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pennsdale United Methodist Church, 658 Village Rd., Pennsdale, PA 17756.
