Dale W. Wheeland
       Dale W. Wheeland, 67, of 1842 Quaker Hill Road, Cogan Station, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at the Howard Schriner Farm in Eldred Twp. Born June 21, 1936, in Eldred Twp., he was the son of Harrison O. and Margaret Mosteller Wheeland.
       Dale was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsport. He was a member and president for the past 31 years of the Northeast PA Tractor Pullers Association.
       Dale worked as a farmer in Eldred Twp., and hauled bulk milk for area farms. He had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and for C.H. Waltz and Sons.
       He and his wife, the former Connie L. Bower, celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2003.
       Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Scott E. (Bonnie) and Thomas A. (Michelle) of Cogan Station; three daughters, Barbara A. (Raymond) Winter and Norma J. (Steven) Ulmer of Cogan Station and Karen L. (Craig) Ulmer of Turbotville; three brothers, Robert O. of Cogan Station, Carl E. of Williamsport and John W. of Loyalsock Twp.; three sisters, Beverly Kleese of Cogan Station, Saloma Dangle of Williamsport and Rita Poust of Lairdsville; ten grandchildren, Brian and Wendy Ulmer, Jessica, Amanda and Katie Ulmer, Jacob, Richard and Joshua Winter, Megan Wheeland and Erik Wheeland.
       He was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry L., and two brothers, Myrle and Roy.
       The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville with his cousin, the Rev. Samuel Fry II of Palmyra United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

     The 1910 census lists Harry V. Jury and his family living at_____ Lycoming Co. PA. The family includes Harry V. 38; Mary, 38; Effie G., 14; Elmer R., 12; Frank L. 8; Paul V. 3 and a sister-in-law, Gertrude L. Giddings, 30.

The 1920 census lists Harry Jury and his family living at 1218 Isabella Street, Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA. He has a wife, Mary, 47; and sons, Frank 16 and Paul 13. Frank is a Packer. All born in PA.

The 1930 census lists Harry Jury, 58, and his family living at 1218 Isabella Street, Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA. He has a wife, Mary, 56; and sons, Frank 25 and Paul 23 and a granddaughter, Kathryn, 8. Harry is a rubber worker for the Lycoming Rubber Co. Frank is a truck driver for Lowmiller Oil Co and is divorced but first married at age 19. All born in PA. Harry and Mary were married at age 21 and 19, respectively.

     The 1930 census lists Elmer Jury and his family living at 495 Springfield Avenue in Newark, Essex Co., NJ. His wife, Eleanora is 28 and sons: Elmer 9; Verdon 7; Roy 6; and Jack 5 along with a sister-in-law, Genevieve Bauer, 22 and a foster daughter Marguerite Bauer, 5. Elmer is a chaffeur in public service. The house is rented for $30 per month. All born in PA. (April 4, 1930; E.D. 14261; Sheet 5A).

Helen M. Jury
       Helen M. Jury, 81, of Loyalsock Twp., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Manor Care South, where she was a patient for the last five years.
       Helen was born June 16, 1922 and raised in Renovo.
       The former Helen M. Bodley was married Sept. 28, 1942, to Verdon P. Jury, who preceded her in death in 1999.
       She was employed at the Williamsport Dye and Machine Factory and the Eureka Paper Box Factory.
       Helen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
       Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie P. Sipe of Glen Burnie, Md.; granddaughter, Dawn M. Simmons of Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Shirley Miller of Shafer, Minn.; two brothers, Luther Bodley of Albany, Ga., and Robert Bodley of Valrico, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren.
       A celebration of Helen’s life will begin with a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd. Services will begin at 2 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Roy Meyer, officiating. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA 18701. Arrangements are being handled by Maneval Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home.

Max A. Fraley
       Max A. Fraley, 74, of 44 Buck St., Muncy (Clarkstown), died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Williamsport Hospital after an extended illness. He and his wife, the former Ruth N. Stackhouse, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Sept. 3.
       He was born in Limestoneville May 24, 1929, the son of the late H. Glenn and Daisy Vergilla (Springer) Fraley.
       Max was the first of two men to graduate from Muncy High School under the "Homebound" program, where he graduated with honors in 1950. He was formerly employed by PennDOT as a weigh master but spent most of his career as an auctioneer, serving two terms as the president of the North East Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending auctions.
       He is survived by his wife Ruth at home; two sons, Harold G. (Virginia) Fraley of Muncy and Rev. Chris A.(Sheri) Fraley of Freehold, N.J.; one daughter, Maxine F.(David) Piper of Waverly, N.Y.; and five brothers, Earl D., George A. and Carl L. Fraley all of Muncy, Robert Fraley of Danville and Howard Fraley of Hughesville. Seven grandchildren and two twin great-grandsons also survive him.
       The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with his son, the Rev. Chris A. Fraley, pastor of the Abundant Life Church, Freehold, N.J., officiating. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dorland E. Bennett
       Dorland E. Bennett, 82, of 7164 Pleasant Valley Road, Cogan Station, died Monday Dec. 1, 2003, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 18, 1921, Williamsport, the son of Grover C. and Clara A. Ringler Bennett.
       He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Williamsport, and retired from the former Schnadig Corp. in Montoursville.
       On April 2, 2003, he and his wife, the former Bessie C. Waltz, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
       Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Melvin E. (Carol) Bennett and Leroy W. (Becky) Bennett, both of Cogan Station; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
       He is preceded in death by two grandsons.
       The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with his pastor, Rev. Joel W. Long, officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Eldred Twp. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
       The family will provide the flowers.
