Ann Louise Miller, 83, a resident at Valley View Nursing Center and formerly of Montoursville, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the home.

She was born October 9, 1924 in Williamsport, a daughter of Edward S. and Clara B. Kurtz Konkle.

Ann was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Montoursville High School. She retired from the former Sylvania in Montoursville after 36 years of service, and was a member of the Sylvania bowling team. She was a member of the American Motorcycle Association, the Southern Tier Bluegrass Association, the American Legion Post #1 Auxiliary, and the A.R.A, Inc.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Miller of Montoursville; two daughters, Carol A. (Karl) Sturm of Hambach, Germany, Donna L. (John) Park of N.C.; a son, Gary E. (Susan) Buckler-Miller of Danville; a brother, Donald Konkle of Montoursville; a sister, Helen Barger of Montoursville; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Lester Konkle.

Visitation for friends and family will be held Monday from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St. Montoursville. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Katherine Behrens officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 2255 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northeastern Region, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Lester G. Konkle

Lester G. Konkle, 80, a resident of Valley View Nursing Home, died March 17, 2007 at his residence.

Lester was born November 26, 1926 in Loyalsock Township the son of Edward S. and Clara B. Kurtz Konkle.

Lester retired from the former GTE Sylvania after 40 years. He was a member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, a member of Sylvania Retirees, and volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, and a Korean Army Veteran and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Lester is survived by a daughter, Joan Konkle of New Jersey; two sons, David and Robert, both of Williamsport; one brother, Donald E. Konkle of Montoursville; two sisters, Helen E. Barger and Ann Miller, both of Montoursville; and two granddaughters.

Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. G. Oliver Wagner, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montoursvillle Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., Montoursville, PA 17754.

David L. Casner
????David L. Casner, 59, of 6905 Pleasant Valley Road, Cogan Station, died at his residence on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, as the result of a wheelchair accident. He was born June 12, 1945, in Cogan Station, the son of C. West and Anna M. Kurtz Casner.
????In his early life, David was employed at St. Paul?s United Methodist Church and he owned a landscaping business. During this time he raced his Dodge Dart in drag races, later becoming a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed tractor pulling contests as well.
????Although he was disabled with muscular dystrophy for the past 20 years, David lived an active, productive and happy life. He had volunteered at the Williamsport Hospital Rehabilitation Department since November 1991 as an activities director and had contributed more than 4,100 hours during that time helping patients.
????David served on the Governor?s Committee for the Employment of Disabled People for many years. He was also involved in the local Muscular Dystrophy Society.
????He was an avid artist, painting primarily landscapes and historic buildings. His paintings have been displayed at the Williamsport Hospital and in local art shows. A long-time member of the Bald Eagle Art League, he served four years on the board of directors. In addition to painting, David enjoyed designing and making country craft items. He was a member of the Warrensville First Baptist Church.
????Surviving is a brother, Cecil H. Casner of Warrensville; two sisters, Rose Ann Read and Susan Marie Quigel, both of Cogan Station; and 14 nieces and nephews.
????Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Warrensville, 5658 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, with his pastor, the Rev. Glen F. Myers, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
????Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.

       David Paul Egli, 83, a resident of 105 Sherman St., Muncy, Pa., passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2005, in the Muncy Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pa., on Monday, March 28, 1921, he was the son of the late David M. and Winnie (Powis) Egli.

Frances M. Fiester

Frances M. Fiester, 88, of the Muncy area, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Sycamore Manor.

Born February 8, 1919, in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Martha Fry. She and her husband, Harry A. Fiester, celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 7, 2006.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Burton Fiester of Milton, Edward Fiester of Hughesville and Jeffrey Fiester of Muncy; three daughters, Cindy Dangler of Loyalton and Cathy Berry and Connie Wommer both of Muncy.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Robert Lauver officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

     Betty J. Fieste

Betty J. Fieste, 80, of the Valley View Nursing Center, formerly of Muncy, died Wednesday Dec. 7, 2005. Her husband Harold W. Fieste, died in 1993. She was born on May 9, 1925 in Hughesville, the daughter of the late Edgar and Elna (Bower) Fry.

Betty was a sewing machine operator for the former Glamorise Co. in Muncy and Williamsport as well as working for the Relda Apparel Company. She was a former member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Hughesville.

She is survived by one son, Donald D. Babb; one daughter, Darlene A. Albright, both of Muncy; two sisters, Thelma Wilson of Montoursville, Frances Fiester of Muncy; five grandchildren, Denise Eck of Cogan Station, Diane Wood of Hughesville, Jim Babb of Hughesville, Donnie Babb of Unityville and Robert Albright of Coplay; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Robert Babb and four brothers, George, Robert, Leon and James Fry.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 East Water St. Hughesville, with the Rev. Gregory Davidson, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Resident Fund at the Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754
