Individual Note: The 1930 census lists Regina L. (Barton) and her husband Harold H. Barton, 26 living with Regina's sister, Susan G. Boghag in Queens, NY. Regina has a daughter, Joan D. 6 months old. Harold is a trainsman.
Harold was involved in the Long Island Railroad train crash while on duty as a ticket-collector and was not expected to live. The wreck happened on November 22, 1950 and was the worst in the history of the Long Island Railroad. 79 people were killed and 363 injured.

Individual Note: The 1910 Census lists Charles J. Schuttinger, 28 and his wife, Ella C or E. 21, living at 270 First Avenue, Manhattan, NYC. They have been married 5 years and 3 of 3 children are living. Their sons are Charles, 4; George, 3 and Francis 2. Also living with them are the grandmother, Ellen Bower, 86 born in England (abt. 1824), widowed, one of one child living. She immigrated in 1850. (Mrs. Bower is presumed to be the grandmother of Ella on her mother's side). Charles is a vegetable and produce dealer. All were born in NY except Charles' mother who was born in Germany. The building appears to be a multi-family aparment building. Also living with them are (in order of listing): Frank Schuttinger, 67 and his wife, Caroline, 65; Catherine Schweigerhof, 89, grandmother; and their grandchildren: Charles, 14; George, 13; Frank, 11. Caroline and Catherine immigrated in 1854; they were born in Germany. All others born in NY except Ellen's parents were born in Ireland; Charles' mother was born in Germany.

Individual Note: The 1880 census lists a Frank Suttinger, 28 and his wife, Carrie, 25 living at E. 13th Street, NYC. They have two sons, Charles, 2 and Jacob 10 months old, born Aug 1879. Frank is a huckster (one who peddles fruits and vegetables). Frank was born in NY, his parents were born in England. Carrie and her parents were born in Wuertemberg. Their children were born in NY. (June 9, 1880).
The 1900 census lists a Frank Schuttinger, 48 and his wife, Helen, Nov. 1858 living at 217 Avenue B Manhattan, NY. Their children are: Jacob 19, b. Aug 1880; Charles 19, b. May 1881; daughters, Mannie, 9 b. Jul 1890; Lizzie, 2 b. Oct. 1898. Frank and his sons are peddlers. Frank's parents were born in Germany as was Helen. (June 6, 1900; E.D. 344; sheet 12).

The 1920 census the family lives with Frank's son, Charles and his family. Frank's wife's name is Caroline. 537 E. 17th St. Frank is a doorman.

He was born in New York, as were his parents. (This research is not inclined to believe this is the same Charles Schuttinger as he is listed as living with his parents in Manhattan in 1920).
