WAS CUTTING CORN IN FIELD WHEN STORM CAME
After much effort, Dr. Born succeeded in bringing him around
Mahlon Freezer, aged 14, son of William Freezer, who resides near Fairview school house, was struck by lightening yesterday afternoon during the heavy thunderstorm which passed over that section.
Young Freezer and his father were cutting corn on the farm of James Winder when the storm broke out at 2:45 o'clock and sought refuge under a couple of shocks of corn.
During the storm a bolt of lightening stuck the shock under which the boy had sought refuge scattering the corn in all directions.
The father caught up the unconcious form of the boy and hurried him to the house. Dr. Born was called from Montoursville and after working hard succeeded in bringing him about again so that last evening he was pronounced out of danger.

Roy E. Gawblick

Roy E. Gawblick, 70, of 709 Arthur Road, Montoursville, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at his residence. He was born September 20, 1935, in Marysville, a son of Paul and Priscilla Gilbert Gawblick.

He retired as a Technician from Litton Industries and was a member of White Deer Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and played softball for many years.

Roy volunteered as groundskeeper for the Montoursville Little League for many years, and on February 24 celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife, the former Shirley A. Hall.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Kevin R. of Hatfield; two daughters, Darlene D. (David) Mitchley of Montoursville and Susan J. Gawblick of South Williamsport; two brothers, Paul of Montoursville and Robert of Nevada; and four grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, Dustin, and Chelsey.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Larry and Carl.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Connie A. Waugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
