BROKE COLLAR BONE IN FALL
Boy Near Muncy was picked up unconcious
Elwood Egli climbed up an apple tree, and in a ten foot drop had a narrow escape from being instanted killed. Head and shoulders were badly bruised in sudden plunge to earth.
Elwood Egli, aged ten years, son of Irvin Egli of Muncy RFD 3 met with a serious accident yesterday afternoon and at the same time made a narrow escape from death.
The boy had climbed up an apple tree and fell to the ground a distance of ten feet, alighting on his head and shoulders.
He was picked up unconcious and Dr. W.L. King of Muncy was summoned, who found that the head and shoulders had been badly bruised, and he had besides sustained a broken collar bone.

German Bullet Misses Egli's Heart by an Inch
STATE COLLEGE - Two former cage stars, both ex-captains and both prize proteges of coach John Lawther, are numbered among Penn State's growing list of war casualties.
Cpl. John Egli, of South Williamsport, co-captain of the 1942-43 squad, was seriously wounded in Belgium on Christmas Day. Enemy fire missed his heart by an inch, he told his wife in a letter from England, where he is now hospitalized.


Coached Penn State Men's Basketball Team from 1949 as an assistant to head coach in the 1954 thru the late 1960's. Spoke to group in Williamsport in 1954.
