The 1890 New York City directory states that he was a baker and lived at h h 547 W. 50th.

NYC Death Index:
Stirrat Samuel 76 y Sept 22 1909 Certificate number; 28078 in Manhattan

Research Note: On September 20, 2007, Sharon Pace Martini, toured the old neighborhoods of Hell's Kitchen. The Stirrat Bakery building still stands at 589 11th Avenue, at 44th Street, without the top two floors, which were raised due to deterioration. The building is now McQuaid's Public House, an Irish pub. The waitress, Bernie, took me on a tour of the building and showed me the basement where the old hearth still exists.
Next stop, 534 W. 46th Street, where Robert Hall Stirrat was born and raised. The building is 5-6 story walk-up with a fire escape on the front facade. The building appears to be completely renovated and in good condition.
Lastly, I visited 547 W. 50th Street, where Samuel Stirrat lived in 1890. This building is no longer there, but replaced by a large modern warehouse. Building across the street are probably similar to that
