Living with him are his wife, Elizabeth J, 28; children: Curtis Wilbur, 4; Margaret E., 2; John is a farmer and his personal estate is worth $677, no real estate is owned. All born in PA.(July 1870; p. 18)


The 1880 Federal Census lists John W. McCord, 40 and his family living in Scrub Grass Twp., Venango Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Elizabeth J, 38; children: Curtis W., 14; Margaret E., 12; Mary M., 9; Emma, 6; Isaac G., 3. John is a farmer. All born in PA except Elizabeth's mother was born in Ireland. (June 7, 1880; E.D. 255; p. 14)

The 1900 Federal Census lists John W. McCord, 60 and his family living in Allegheny Twp, Butler Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Elizabeth J, 58; children: Issac G., 23; Montreville J. 20; John M. 17; and Clinton L., 14. They have been married 34 years with all 8 children living. John is a farmer, he owns his farm but it is mortgaged. Isaac and Montreville are day laborers. All born in PA except Elizabeth's mother was born in Ireland. All are educated. The 1910 Federal Census lists John W. McCord, 70 and his family living in Allegheny Twp, Butler Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Elizabeth J, 68; son: Clinton L., 23 and his wife, Annie and their two sons, Floyd, 3 and Kenneth 3 months. John and Elizabeth have been married 44 years with all 8 children living. John is a farmer, he owns his farm free and clear. Clinton is a farm laborer on the home farm. All born in PA. All are educated. John was a member of the Union Army. (April 18, 1910; E.D. 57 p. 1B)

     The 1900 Federal Census lists Harry B. Cocks, 24 living with his father David Cocks, b. Feb. 1841 in Rockland Twp., Venango Co., PA. His father is widowed, but the head of the household. Also living with them are Harry's wife, Fanny 20, b. Jul 1880 and their daughter, Nellie E. b. Aug 1899. Harry's brother, Seth b. Mar 1878 also lives with them. Harry and Fanny have been married one year and their only child is living. David is a farmer and Harry does something with tools at an oil well. Seth is day laborer. All born in PA except David's father was born in England. (June 13, 1900; E.D. 163; Sheet 11)

The 1910 Federal Census lists Harry B. Cox, 33 and his family living in Rockland Twp., Venango Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Fannie, V. 30; children, Nellie E. 10; Lester D. 9; Neva K. 7; Helen, 11 months and Harry's brother Seth J. Cox, 32. They both have been married only once for 11 years with all four children living. Harry is a pumper at an oil well All speak English, and can read and write. Seth is a printer in a printing office. (April 18, 1910; E.D. 142; Sheet 2B).

The 1930 Federal Census lists Harry B. Cox, 53 and his family living in Rockland Twp., Venango Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Fannie, V. 50; children: Duane C. 18 and Lois J. 17. Harry was 22 when first married and Fannie 19. Harry is a tool dresser at an oil well. All born in PA except Harry's mother was born in New York. All born in PA. All speak English, and can read and write. Duane is a painter's helper in a paint shop. Harry owns his house which is worth $500 and they have a radio. (April 18, 1910; E.D. 142; Sheet 2B).

     The 1880 Federal Census lists Newton Jolly, 28 and his wife, Lizzie, 27 living in Rockland Twp., Venango Co., PA. They have three children: Marie H. 4; Delbert, 3 and Fannie B. 5 months. Newton is a farmer. All were born in PA. (June 1, 1880; E.D. 252; p. 30).

From scrapbook borrowed from Jessie Altmire, the summer of 1996. MRS. FRANCISM. LEWIS Mrs. Ella Catherine Lewis, 63, wife of Francis M. Lewis, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday at her home in Kennerdell, after a six months' illness. She was born Oct. 20, 1881 in Rockland, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. N. C. Jolley, practically her entire life was spent in Rockland township. She was a member of the Rockland Methodist church and of its Ladies' Bible class. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter and five sons, Mrs. Howard Potter, Kennerdell; WalterJ., Washingtonville, Pa.; Theron V., Andover, O.; Edmund D., Strongsville, O.;Robert of Bay City, Mich.; and Glenn of Adrian, Mich.; a brother, D. L. Jolley, Washington, Pa., and a sister, Mrs. H. B. Cox, Kennerdell. The body was takento the Buchanan funeral home and will be moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Potter of Kennerdell, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. E. C. Hasenplug of Rockland Methodist church, officiating. Intermentwill be in Rockland cemetery. Friends may call at the Potter home this eveningand after.
