Mary L. Vough

Mary L. Vough, 62, Dushore RR4, went home to be with her Lord on Aug. 6, 2006, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, after a courageous struggle with leukemia.

Born on Nov. 12, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Geraldine Fulmer Weisbrod.

She has been a lifetime resident of Sullivan County.

In 1960, she married Harvey Vough, and joined him on the family farm.

She was actively involved with the Sullivan County 4-H Club, and was a board member of the Pennsylvania Council of Cooperative Extension.

Mary enjoyed working with the residents at Dar-Way and The Highland Nursing Homes for many years. She enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, her flowerbeds and fishing.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, of Overton.

Her love of life and laughter will be great missed.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Harvey Vough, at home; children, Carl (Joyce) Vough, Ann (Cecil Jr.) Zeigler, Chris (Brandy) Vough, Holly (Jeff) Mensch; brothers, Gene (Gloria) Weisbrod, Ed (Rena) Weisbrod; sisters, Irene (Gerald) Silverstrim, Betty (John ‘‘Ron’’) Bahl, Judy (John) Koes; and by 10 grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore, 7 — 9 p.m., and Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Paul’s Church in Overton, 10 - 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Overton, with Pastor Darcy Miller, officiating.

Interment will be Warburton Hill Cemetery.

Individual Note:
     Clark E. Warburton was a professor of economics in both the United States and India. He later became an economist with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington,D.C. becoming chief of the Banking and Business Section of the Division of Research and Statistics. He wa s also well known for his economic theory stating that monetary forces are the key cause of economic disturbances. He also believed that United States monetary authorities do not provide sufficient stability, at an appropriate rate of growth, in the supply of money available to the people and enterprises of the nation.

Sister Mary A. Schelb

Sister Mary A. Schelb I.H.M., 95, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Our Lady of Peace Residence, Scranton.

Born in Williamsport July 15, 1910, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Stopper Schelb.

Mary was a sister in the order of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Sister had celebrated her 75th jubilee this past May 7, 2006.

She was a graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School in Danville.

Surviving are two sisters, Bernardine C. Lutz of Williamsport and Monica S. Lutz of South Williamsport. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Schelb.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Chapel in Scranton.

Beverly A. Packer

Beverly A. Packer, 61, of 1838 Hazel Drive, Williamsport, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 in the Williamsport Hospital.

Born April 8, 1945 in Loyalsock Township, she was a daughter of Harry L. and Marjorie E. Richards Pittenger Sr.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her flower garden and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Williamsport, are her husband of 42 years, Lloyd E. Packer; a daughter, Tammy A. Scampone (Mike) of Williamsport; a son, Michael E. Packer Sr. of Milton; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry L. Pittinger Jr. of Montoursville and Kenneth B. Pittinger of Williamsport.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Mark F. Reisinger of Third St. U.M.C. officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Doris Ann Minier

Doris Ann “Punk” Millheim Minier, 57, of Unityville, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at her home.

Born April 13, 1949, in Shrewsbury Township, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of David A. and Sarah A. Miller Millheim.

Punk was employed at Wise Chips for ten years and also at Verdelli Farms in Harrisburg for the past seven years.

She was a member of the VFW Post 1213 in Harrisburg serving as an honor guard, a member of Rutherford AMVETS Post 286 and a member of Lawton American Legion Post 998.

Punk loved her family and friends and just being around people. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and gambling. A common expression of Punk’s was “God gave me a mouth and I’m not afraid to use it.”

Surviving are two sons, Brian D. (Annette) Minier of Unityville and Rodney L. Minier Jr. of Unityville; a brother, Doug Millheim of Hughesville; three sisters, Judy Ohnmiess of Muncy, Linda Baumer of New Columbia and Marge Reeser of Cozad, Neb.; and two grandchildren, Tamara and Dakota Minier.

Punk was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Millheim.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Max Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Lungerville Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rodney L. Minier Sr.
   
VETERAN
Rodney L. Minier Sr., 59, of Unityville, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1946, in Muncy Creek Township, Lycoming County, he was a son of Richard and Lenna Dewald Minier.

Rodney was employed with the Bruce Charles Lumber Co. and also as a self-employed logger for many years. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Fort Ricketts Post 8317 VFW. Rodney enjoyed peddling produce and baked goods throughout the community and spending time with his grandchildren as well.

Surviving are two sons, Brian D. (Annette) Minier of Unityville and Rodney L. Minier Jr. of Unityville; two brothers, Jay and Guy Minier, both of Unityville; four sisters, Elaine Minier of Scranton, Judy Cox of Towanda, Diane Reyer of Gulfport, Miss., and Shirley Robbins of Unityville; and two grandchildren, Tamara and Dakota Minier.

Rodney was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Rick Minier.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Max Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Lungerville Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
