Individual Note: The 1900 census lists Samuel Stirrat, 33 b. Dec. 1866 and his family living at 547 W. 50th Street, Manhattan, NY.They have been married 13 years with 4 of 6 children living. He is a plumber and rents his apartment. (June 6, 1900; E.D. 398; sheet 7B).

According to the 1920 census, Samuel Stirrat lived at 4658 Atlantic Ave, Queens, NY. His family was his wife Margaret 49, Frank 21, George 18, Mable 15 and Arthur 8. He is a journeyman plumber. Incidentally, Samuel's sister, Margaret Antz, lives at 4568 Atlantic Avenue in Queens, NY at the same time.
The 1930 Federal Census lists, Samuel Stirrat, 64 living at 45 Montauk Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. He is now married to a Clarinda, 59 b. in NY; parents born in Ireland. He was 21 when first married and she 59. He is a plumber. He owns the house which is valued at $2500; the house appears to be a duplex because the other side is rented for $15/month. Also living with him are his wife, Sophia, 29, b. Sept 1870 in Germany; his sons; Joseph, 2, b. Jul 1897; and Julius, 1, Aug 1898; also his sister-in-law, Minnie Klasser, single, 28, b. Oct. 1871 in Germany. The children were born in New York. All others born in Germany. Joseph came to the U.S. in 1888, his citizenship is Al; Sophie came in 1889; Minnie came in 1890. Joseph is a coal and ice dealer, Minnie is a servant girl. The residence appears to be a mulit-family apartment building and is rented. All are educated and can read and write. They have been married 13 years with both children living. Their sons, Joseph, 12 and Julius, 11, both born in New York, live with them. They also have a boarder, Otto Beck, 25, b. in Germany. Joseph Maisch Sr. immigrated in 1884 and Sophia in 1888. Joseph is a driver for the Express company. Joseph owns the house. (April 15, 1910, E.D 1498;. Sheet 6B).
The 1920 Federal Census lists a Joseph Maisch, 54, b. in Wurzberg, Germany living at 814 Tinton Avenue, Bronx, NY, NY. Also living with him are his wife, Sophia, 49, b. in Hessen, Germany; his sons; Joseph, 22, b. Jul 1897; and Julius, 21, Aug 1898. The children were born in New York. All others born in Germany, Joseph and Sophie speak German. Joseph came to the U.S. in 1888, his citizenship is PA; Sophie came in 1889. Joseph is a driver, type of business is illegible. Joseph Jr. is a mechanic and Julius is also employed but illegible. The residence appears to be a duplex house and is rented. All are educated and can read and write. They have two roomers, Leo Evanzo, 46 b. in Columbia and Benjamin Stern, 25 b. NY. Joseph Sr. is a warehouse man in an electric supplies and Joseph Jr. is a tester of electrical equipment. They rent the apartment for $52 per month. Joseph and his parents were born in Germany. Sophie was born in Darmstadt Germany along with her parents. Joseph was 31 when first married and Sophia 25.
