Ethel M. Morehart

Ethel M. Morehart, 81, of 916 Race St., Williamsport, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

Born April 13, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of George and Dorothy Kinley Lockard. She was the widow of Eugene D. Morehart who died Oct. 19, 1996.

Ethel was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church and enjoyed music, quilting, sewing and painting. She had been employed by the former Vanderlin Cleaners.

Surviving are four children, Dennis E. Morehart of Salem, Va., Timothy G. Morehart of city, Debra E. Welch of Linden, and Alicia L. Adkins of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Joseph Lockard of Harrisburg and Daniel Lockard of Linden; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Grandson Timothy G. Morehart predeceased her.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Buchanan Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Regan officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Memorials in Ethel’s name may be directed to the Buchanan Baptist Church, 3240 Grimesville Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Individual Note:
     Drowned in the Susquehanna River along with a hunting buddy Homer C. McAnany, 37 on October 27, 1952. The pair were found near the Barto farm along the river just west of Muncy. The explanation offered by the PA State Police: The two men were hunting in a boat and came upon some ducks. They stood up in the boat and starting firing and the boat tipped over.
