Polio Patient Leaves Local Unit; 5 Remain
Only five polio patients remain at the City-County Way Memorial Isolation Unit at the Williamsport Hospital with the discharge of one patient yesterday.
Discharged yesterday was Ronald Dangle, 10 son of Mr. & Mrs. Melvin C. Dangle of Montoursville RD 2. The boy was admitted to the unit on October 2. A younger brother, David was admitted two days after Ronald's admittance and sent to his home on October 11.

Beverly A. O’Connell Little
Beverly Ann O’Connell Little of Montoursville, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly on Dec. 27, 2006.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1935, in Williamsport, the daughter of Raymond J. and E. Allegra (Shilling) O’Connell.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dr. Robert G. Little Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary L. and John E. Young of Bedford, N.H.; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret T. and Charles D. Dangle of Cogan Station; a son, Dr. Robert G. Little III of Montoursville; a sister, Donna Saunders of Kingman, Ariz.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Lester J. VanEss of Cogan Station. She was predeceased by a brother, Terrence O’Connell. Other survivors include her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Young, Katie and Evan Dangle, Ryan, Sean and Ashley Little, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Little was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Lycoming College, and an active volunteer in many organizations over the years. Most recently, she enjoyed participating in the Montoursville Garden Club and the General John Burrows Historical Society. For many years she and her family were members of the First United Methodist Church in Williamsport.
At the request of her family, a private memorial service will be held at the Spitler Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 30, with the Rev. James Grubb officiating.

Hilda I. Ritter
Hilda I. Ritter, 80, of Muncy, died Tuesday, February 06, 2007, at her home.
Born August 16, 1926, in Wolf Township, she was a daughter of J. Monroe and Mary Ida Croman Phillips. Her husband of 35 years, John T. Ritter, died July 10, 1981.
Hilda was a loving mother and grandmother who was very devoted to the family farm. Ritter-Ridge Farms had been in the family for five generations, and was operated by Hilda and sons Paul and Wayne until 1998. She enjoyed all aspects of farming, including raising and nurturing the young livestock and was always proud of the grandchildren when they showed their prize cows at the local fairs.
In addition to farming, Hilda had a passion for Beagles. She loved to raise and hunt with the dogs and was a member of the Millville area Beagle Club.
Hilda was a member of the Lycoming County Holstein Club, the Pennsylvania Holstein Association, the Holstein Association of America and the Moreland Baptist Church. She was active in 4-H for many years and enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Paul T. Ritter of Muncy and J. Wayne (Joni) Ritter of Hughesville; a daughter, Janet (Kenneth M., II) Stackhouse of Muncy; a brother, Donald M. Phillips of Pennsdale; a sister, Alice Hilner of Hughesville; and 10 grandchildren, William, Michael and Nathan Ritter, Angela and Jeremy Stackhouse, and John, Jed, Kelsey, Chet and Juneil Ritter.
Hilda was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Ritter and Beatrice Martin.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
