ADERHOLD -MARTHA L. HOLDREN
Martha L. Holdren, 65, of Troy died Thursday, December 3, 1992 at the Troy Community Hospital. She was born December 14, 1926 in Canton, PA, the daughter of John and Grace Sallada Aderhold. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Troy Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Artie Holdren of 415 E. Main St., Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Joe Williams of Canton, PA, Sue and Joe Odom of Huntsville, AL and Linda and Trey Ripley with the US Navy in GTMO, Cuba; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Holdren and Lindenwold, NJ, Gary and Kim Holdren of Nazareth, PA, Mike Aderhold of Atco, NJ, Denny and Diane Holdren of Troy, Randy and Kim Holdren of Berwick, Brett Holdren of Wuerzburg, Germany, Darryl and Brenda Holdren of East Troy, Jeff and Shelly Holdren of Troy, Jody Holdren of Colorado Springs, CO and Artie and Delores Holdren Jr. of Troy RR 2. She was predeceased by son, Terry Holdren, in 1970. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Wagner of Maryland and Ruth Tinney of Penn Yan, NY; brothers, John Aderhold of Silver Springs, MD, James Aderhold also of Silver Springs and William Aderhold of Horseheads, NY; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held December 5 at the Vickery Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Garry Zuber officiating and interment to be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Troy building fund. (TGR, Thursday, December 10, 1992)

Fourth Fatality of the Year
The youngster was the fourth traffic victim of the year in the county and first in South Williamsport since last February 26.
The youngster celebrated his sixth birthday two weeks ago today. He was born January 31, 1956.
Surviving are his father and mother, the former Doris Forsburg; a brother, Kim Lee, and a sister, Ruth, both at home; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. James A. Davis and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Forsburg all of South Williamsport.
Private services will be conducted at Noll's, 1 East Central Avenue, South Williamsport at 2 pm Friday. The Rev. Ronald E. Bowersox, pastor of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Donald was killed crossing Market Street at Mountain Avenue after darting back into traffic to pick up a dropped report card. There was a crossing guard present. The Hubbards lived at 363 Hastings Street at the time.

Individual Note: The 1930 Federal Census lists a Joseph R. Hubbard, 32, living on Irvin Street, Allison Twp., Clinton Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Anna M. 22; daughter, Mary L. 5; Betty J. 3 ;years one month; Joseph R. Jr., 1 year 2 months; and his mother, Nancy Hubbard, 73. Joseph and his mother were born in Tennessee. All others born in PA. Joseph rents the house for $30 per month. They have a radio. All adults are literate. Joseph is a laborer in a chair factory. The county seat was Ooltewah, an Indian name meaning "place of the owl". The remaining old records are kept in Hamilton Co. There was a fire that destroyed many of the James Co. records]

Individual Note: The 1900 Federal Census lists Nancy Hubbard, 45, b. Jan 1855, widowed, head of the household living with her sons in the 3rd Civil District of James Co., Tennesee. Her sons are: Arthur, 9 b. Dec 1891; Joseph R., 4 b. Jun 1895; Rueben, 2 b. Apr 1898. Six of eight children are living. All are listed as white. They live adjacent to the John and Wilson Hixson familes. (June 26, 1900; E.D. 74; p. 243A)
[Research Note: the 3rd Civil District of James Co. is in the northern-most part of the county, whereas James County is along the southeastern border of the state].
The 1910 Federal Census lists a Nancy L. Hubord, 52, living in the 3rd Civil District, James Co., TN with her sons, Arthur, 19; Joseph, 14 and Ruban, 11. She is single and born in Tennessee. Five of eight children are living. Nancy's father was born in South Carolina, all others born in TN. Nancy is not employed, and rents the house. Arthur is a farmer and Joseph is a farm laborer. (April 30, 1910; E.D. 98; sheet 6A).

The 1930 Federal Census lists Nancy Hubbard, 75, living with her son, Joseph in Allison Twp., Clinton Co., PA.
According to family, she was of Native American, Cherokee descent.

Living with him are his wife, Rosa D., 31 and children: Willie D.16; Luther M.13, Edgar 13, and Celia T. 8. Arthur is a Merchant with a general retail store. He was 22 when first married and Rosa was only 15. She cannot read or write. He owns his house that is worth $400. All born in TN. (April 9, 1930; E.D. 33-83; p. 4A)

The 1880 Federal Census lists a D.M. Hubbard, 32 and his wife, Nancy A. 30 living in the 3rd Civil District, Yorkville, Gibson Co., Tennessee. They have no children. Mr. Hubbard's occupation has been erased and nothing is listed. He was born in Miss.(?); his father was born in Virginia and his mother in Alabama. Nancy and her parents were born in Tennessee; she is keeping house. (June 3, 1880; E.D. 39; page 4).
