Individual Note:
     The ship manifest for the SS Gallia sailing from Liverpool England to New York lists a J.P. Forsberg, 50, and his wife, Martha, 48,and daughters, Augusta, 11 and Hannah, 6. The ship arrived on April 24, 1891. He is a black smith. Their final destination is Massachusetts.

The 1900 Federal Census lists a Petre Forsberg, 59 and his wife, Martha, 57 living in Worcester, Massachusetts. They have been married 34 years. They have one daughter, Hannah M., 15, single living with them. Four of their seven children are living. All born in in Sweden. Petre immigrated in 1891. He is laborer in a wire mill. (June 15, 1900; E.D. 1753; Sheet 25B).

The 1910 Federal Census lists a Petre Forsberg, 69 and his wife, Martha, 64 living in Worcester, Massachusetts. They have been married 45 years. They have one daughter, Hannah M., 24, single living with them. All four of their children are living. All born in in Sweden. Petre immigrated in 1891. He is a church janitor. Also living with them are two nephews, Harold C., 23 working as a machinist and Waldemar, 21, works as a moulder. Harold immigrated in 1896 and Waldemar in 1909.

Claude J. Scott

Claude J. Scott, 90, of 396 Rt. 864 Hwy., Montoursville, and a guest at Valley View Nursing Center, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the home.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1916 in Upper Fairfield Twp., the son of Raymond M. and Elsie Haviland Scott.

He was a member of Farragut United Methodist Church and in 1982 retired from Valley Farms Dairy, and prior had worked for Hurr’s Dairy. He was a member of the Easy Climb Hunting Club in Plunketts Creek, and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a former constable in Upper Fairfield Twp.

On March 26, 2006 he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years the former June L. Smith.

He is survived by three daughters, Claudia L. (John) Harris of Boiling Springs, Karen L. (Shane) Ryder of Montoursville, and Donna R. (Dennis) Barto of Hughesville; eight grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Pastor Connie A. Waugh officiating. Interment will follow in Montoursville cemetery. Friends will be received on Saturday from 10 — 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
