     Falls MM, Bucks Co., Pa.: 7/1/1784: Makefield reports that Robert Whiteacre Jr. Has taken an active part in military service in the late commotion, paid military fines and neglected meetings.
4/9/1799: Falls MM: Sarah Whitacre requests certificate for herself and children to a Cattawessy MM. Two of them, Robert and Joseph have married among Friends. John still lives with his mother.
Will: signed on 15 oct 1795. One third of estate ; Robert received tract of land he lives on and a silver watch; daughter,, Rebecca received 20 pounds and a heifer, daughter, Hannah Corson, 5 pounds; son John 100 pounds at age 20; son Joseph, residual of real and personal property;

Ruth M. Smith, 90, a resident at Valley View Nursing Center, and formerly of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the home.

She was born May 21, 1917 in Williamsport, and raised by Harriet Grove.

She is survived by her son, Gene L. (Sandy) Kurtz of Montoursville; grandchildren, Craig M. (Rhonda) Kurtz, and Kevin A. (Allyson) Kurtz both of Montoursville, Heather Kurtz, and Bryon Kurtz, both of Lexington, N.C., and great grandchildren, Jordan, Zachary, Carissa, Lydia, and Shelby Kurtz.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Elmer Kurtz, in 1989, and by her second husband, Carl Smith, in 1998, and by her son, Patrick.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday January 15, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
