Auburndale, Fla. -
Frank “Frankie Custer” Castiglia Sr., 92, formerly of 372 S. Seventh St., Fulton, and presently of 106 N. Prado St., Auburndale, Fla., died peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007.
He was born in Minetto, and had been a resident of Oswego County for many years.
Mr. Castiglia was employed as a millwright at the Sealright Papermill, Fulton, from April 10, 1945 until Feb. 28, 1978. He was the former owner of the Playtime Laundry in Fulton, from 1963 until 1990.
Mr. Castiglia was a member of the Shirts and Skirts of Fulton and the Moose Lodge #1280, since 1978. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Fulton.
Mr. Castiglia served in the CCC from 1935 until 1937, when he was honorably discharged.
He was an Amateur Golden Glove, having participated in Club Boxing from 1937 until 1943 under the name of “Frankie Custer.”
Mr. Castiglia was predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn Castiglia in 1998; his grandson, Michael Cronin; his sisters Marian Contie, Lucy Burnett, Rosalie Barcomb and Jane Finestrella; and brother, Anthony Castiglia.
Mr. Castiglia is survived by his sons, James (Wilma) of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., Nicholas (Cathy) of Victor, Frank Jr. (Nila) of Fulton; his daughters, Joyce Cronin of Monroe and Wilma (Susan Scalettar) Cronin of West Nayack; his brothers, Joseph (Mary) of Fulton and James (Katherine) of Minetto; and sisters Edna Castiglia of Minetto, Betty (Jim) Tetro of Fulton, and Theresa (Nicholas) DeStevens of Fulton; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; his companion, Dorothy Flick of Auburndale, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Stephenson.
Burial will be in the spring at Peck Cemetery, Scriba.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S. Fulton.

Anna Castiglia
OSWEGO -- Anna (Marturano) Castiglia, 92, a former resident of 163 W. Sixth St., Oswego, died Nov. 24, 2003 at Oswego Hospital. Surviving are a son, Joseph (Shirley) Castiglia of Oswego; two daughters, Adrienne (Henry) Varner of Liverpool, and Charlotte Castiglia of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Anthony Marturano of Long Island; a sister, Mary Arcadi of Fulton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Castiglia in 1988.
