Graveside services for Glenn L. Smithgall, 73, of Duncannon, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Montoursville Cemetery.
He died Monday, June 8, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital.
Born March 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Palmer T. and Genevieve Gawblick Smithgall.
A graduate of Marysville High School and Williamsport Technical Institute, he was a former partner of Amity Enterprises, Duncannon.
He was a member of Marysville Moose, Duncannon VFW Post 255, Newport American Legion and 40 & 8 of Hughesville.
Mr. Smithgall is survived by a son, Glenn P. of Duncannon; a daughter, Vonnie L. King of Duncannon; a sister, Faye Heisley of Marysville; and four grandchildren.
The Rev. Fred Brungart will officiate at services. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Ronald Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice

Individual Note: The 1870 Federal Census lists David Smithgall, 28, living in Upper Fairfield Twp., Lycoming Co. PA. Also in the household are his wife, Sarah, 26; Lizzy Jane, 5; Emmy Allice, 4; William, 2 and Margaret 7 months.
The 1880 census lists David Smithgall, 38, living in Old Lycoming Twp., Lycoming Co., PA. Also in the household are his wife, Sarah, 36; daughter, Elizabeth J. 16 and Emma 14; son, Wm. J. 12; and daughter, Mary E. 10. All born in PA. David is a farmer, all the children attend school.
The 1900 Federal Census of Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County, PA lists David C. Smithgall, 57 and his wife, Sarah C. 56 and son Thomas S. 17. Five of seven children are living. David's father was born in Germany. All others born in PA. David is a hotel keeper and Thomas is a day laborer. David owns his house.

David C. SMITHGALL, an aged and highly respected citizen of Chatham’s Run, died Wednesday night of last week, of pneumonia, after an illness of five days, aged 77 years. He is survived by his wife and five children. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday forenoon at 10 o’clock, and the remains were placed on the 11:34 train at McElhattan and taken to Sand Hill, Lycoming county, for burial.
David C. Smithgall would have died on Wednesday, 7 January 1920.
