Note for:   Thomas Schoonover,   BEF 9 NOV 1760 - ABT 21 AUG 1820         Index

Individual Note:
Thomas Schoonover lived in the flats of the Upper Paupack in Texas Twp., Wayne Co., PA. William Hulbert bought his farm (p. 345, Goodrich, Phineas. History of Wayne Co., PA). He came into the township probably in the 1790s from New Jersey where he was married to Margaret Cadrow who he met in December 1779 and settled on Holbert farm, near the junction of Holbert Brook with the Lackawanna. In the American Revolution, Thomas fought in Colonel Malcolm's Regiment of Levies at Valley Forge. He also fought under Aaron Burr.

In 1800, Thomas was living in Palmyra Twp., Wayne Co., PA. Thereafter, he lived in Dyberry Twp. in the same county and was there for the 1810 and 1820 censuses.

Note for:   Margaret Cadrow,   1755 - 27 NOV 1847         Index

Individual Note:
Note: The source of Margaret's maiden name appears to be Rev. Hoagland's "Twigs." The name is very uncommon. One researcher propounded a theory that she was actually an Indian maiden from the tribe of Cadjaw Indians. Interestingly, there is a Cadjaw Pond in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.
