Individual Note: WATSONTOWN — Mildred “Peg” Simon Michael, 88, of rural Watsontown for the past 53 years, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born March 28, 1919, in Allenwood, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Hagenboch) Reeser.
Her first husband, Theodore W. Simon, died Sept. 26, 1962. Her second husband, Milo Michael, died March 10, 1975.
Mrs. Michael graduated from Watsontown High School with the Class of 1937.
She worked as a presser for Bobbie Brooks Garment Manufacturing Company, Montgomery, for 18 years until retiring in 1986. Following her retirement, she was a live-in housekeeper for three Watsontown area families who were receiving home nursing care.
Mrs. Michael was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Watsontown.
She was a member of the FOE 1208 Auxiliary, Milton, and the Daughters of America.
She enjoyed gardening and lawn care.
Mrs. Michael is survived by a son, Max Simon of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Jane Brinson of Montgomery and Helen and Arnold Weeks of Pinellas Park, Fla.; five stepchildren and their spouses, George and Tess Michael of Turbotville, Irvin and Patsy Michael of Muncy Valley, Clarence Michael of Hughesville and Eldora David and Eleanor Shoemaker, both of Muncy Valley; two brothers, Charles “Farmer” Reeser Jr. of Allenwood and Ned Reeser of Milton; three sisters, Catherine Rake formerly of Allenwood, Ruth Cotner of McEwensville and Hattie Fisher of Allenwood; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons.
In addition to her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Brady Leroy Simon in 1947 and Charles Simon in 2002; a stepdaughter, Shirley Simon in 1975; a granddaughter, Hattie Lee Brinson in 1989; three brothers, Franklin, Donald and Paul Reeser; and two sisters, Martha Simon and Mary Katzmeair.
Visitors may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in Trinity United Church of Christ, 602 Main St., Watsontown.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church with her pastor, the Rev. Ed Henry, officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, Pa. 17102.
Arrangements are under the care of the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
