Eleanor M. Zaniefski

Our beloved mother, Eleanor M. “Ellie” Zaniefski, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 where she resided with her daughter and faithful caretaker, Gail Villarnovo. Born in Bridgeport to her parents, Alfred Leon Minie, Sr. and Belinda Jane Lofgren Minie, who predeceased her, Ellie recently celebrated another anniversary of her 39th birthday. She was a lifelong Bridgeport resident who worked for the former E.J. Korvettes and as a furniture sales consultant for G. Fox companies until her retirement. Her family and dearest friends, Ann and Ray Tompkins of Trumbull, knew Ellie as vivacious, outgoing and youthful, even in the face of recent illness. Ellie was an independent spirit with a sense of style that never diminished. She was an avid reader with a sly wit, which she demonstrated without provocation and practiced mostly for the benefit of family and friends, who loved it. Ellie was devoted to her family first and foremost, and only slightly less to her cats, Bailey and Lucky. Ellie never wavered in her loyalty to the Mets, even in their lean years, and had no patience for detractors. Ellie’s spirit lives on with her survivors: her sister, Glorie Minie, former Town Manager of Stratford; her brother, Alfred Leon Minie, Jr., and his wife Claire and their children of Clarksville, Tennessee; her daughter, Gail Villarnovo, of Bridgeport and her sons Sebastian and Michael of New Haven; her daughter, Kathleen Pacacha, and her husband Ron of Trumbull, their daughter Jennifer, Ron’s daughter, Claire, of New York City and his son, Zach and his wife Tara Fecteau Pacacha of Stratford; her son, Chester Zaniefski, and his children Nina, Chet, Allysa, Jessica and Kyle of Berthoud, Colorado; her daughter, Stacey Zaniefski, and her companion Luis Rivera and his children Natalie and Luis of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and her daughter, Jody Zaniefski Saa, and her husband Gonzalo Ricardo Saa and their son, Daniel, of Cancun, Mexico.
