Individual Note:
     The 1910 census lists Vito Massi as living in Lawrence County, PA, with his wife and three daughters. They have been married 10 years, all three children are living. They live with Giovanina's sister, Carmela. Vito is a quarryman.

The 1920 census lists Vitto Massi, 42, as living at 6 Cascade Street, New Castle (4th ward), Lawrence Co., PA. Living with him are his wife, Jennie, 42, and daughters: Elvera, 14; Edith, 12; and Gertrude, 7. Also living with them are four lodgers: Joe Giomi, 26; August Simone, 25; and three others, all Italian-born. Vito and Jennie were born in Italy and immigrated in 1900. Vito became a naturalized citizen in 1914.
Their daughters were born in PA. Vito is a laborer in the cement works and rents his house. (January 10, 1920; E.D. 97; Sheet 12B).

Individual Note:
     The Martini family, at one time, owned all the land at the bootom of the mountain near Sgurgola. They raised grapes, figs, olives and other fruits and vegetables.

Individual Note:
     The Corsi family was fairly wealthy, but the money went to the male members of the family. Cataldo (Aldo) Corsi, a far distant cousin, lives in Toronto, Canada. He and his wife Novella, have a son Massimo. Cataldo Corsi's grandfather and Pasqua Corsi are first cousins.

Pasqua Corsi took part in the burning of the Court House in Sgurgola to protest high taxes. She was considered (by non-relatives) to be the prettiest girl in her village but she was also hot-tempered.

Pasqua hurt her back in a fall while carrying wood for fuel. She died at a young age. Her daughter Elisa died very young, and her son Carmine was very young when Pasqua died. She and her husband, Antonio, are buried in the Corsi family tomb in Sgurgola.
