     The 1872 Atlas of Herrick Twp, Susquehanna County, PA lists a G. Herrick living on the road north out of Herrick Center, along the Lackawanna Creek.

The 1900 Federal Census lists Friend G.Tingley, 66, b. Feb 1834 living in Herrick Twp., Susquehanna Co., PA with his wife, Cyntha C, no age listed. They have been married 14 years and have no children. . Gaius is a farmer and owns his farm. His father was born in Connecticut and his mother in Massachusetts. Cyntha's parents birthplaces are unknown. Both were born in PA. (#30, June 8, 1900, E.D. 92; Sheet 2A)

The 1910 Federal Census lists Gaius Tingley (Fengly), 76, living in Herrick Twp., Susquehanna Co., PA with his wife, Catherine, 54. Catherine has 3 children, 2 living. Both Gaius and Catherine have been married twice. Gaius is a farmer and owns his farm. His father was born in Connecticut and his mother in Massachusetts. Catherine's father was born in NJ and her mother in PA. They live on Burnwood Road. (#90, April 25, 1910, E.D. 74; Sheet 4B)
