Catherine Age 84, a well-loved and lifetime member of the Wellsboro community, died of congestive heart failure on Sunday morning, November 28, 2004, at Soldiers and Sailors memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Catherine Louise Smithgall was born on August 30, 1920 at the family farm in Stony Fork, the fifth of ten children to Otto R. and Ina Callahan Smithgall. She was married to Carl E. Scase of Wellsboro for 68 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Ron) Dexter of Wellsboro, and Donna (John) Huling of Alexandria, Virginia. She also leaves her sisters, Dorothy Morgan of Williamsport, and Betty Jean Beck of Wellsboro; her brothers, Frederick Smithgall, Robert Smithgall, and Donald Smithgall, all of Wellsboro; and grandchildren, Amy Schilling of Glendora, California, Leslie Myers of Burlington, Vermont, Susan Huling Atkins of Stowe, Vermont, Jennifer Garvin of Fayetteville, West Virginia, and Patrick Dexter, serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama. She has 11 great-grandchildren. Catherine is a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her professional life, she served as secretary to the District Attorney, secretary to the President of the Commonwealth Bank, secretary to Wellsboro attorney Thomas Walrath, and was a successful realtor for ERA Homestead Realty. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a good friend to all in Wellsboro. Catherine will be greatly missed, and her positive and warm spirit will remain with us all. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Thursday, December 9, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Paul's Columbarium. If desired, memorials may be made in her memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pearl Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Arrangements by Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, a "Life Celebration Home", 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.

William A. Smithgall, age 48, of 1319 Dora Drive, Leesburg, Florida, died Sunday, December 23, 1973 at Leesburg, Florida as a result of a plane crash. Funeral services were held at 4:00 pm, December 26, 1973 at the Beyers Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Frank Bauer officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Jane Kirkpatrick Smithgall, father Otto R. Smithgall of Wellsboro, daughters, Mrs. Judy Hollenbeck of Wellsboro and Mrs. Andrea Siler of Leesburg, Florida, son, William Todd at home; brothers, Raymond O. Smithgall of Canton, Pennsylvania; Kenneth E. of Lady Lake, Florida; Frederick A. Smithgall, Robert E. Smithgall and Donald L. Smithgall of Wellsboro; sisters, Mrs. Rupert C. Morgan and Mrs. John T. Beck of Williamsport, Mrs. Raymond C. Bowen of Selinsgrove and Mrs. Carl E. Scase of Wellsboro; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Wellsboro February 19, 1925, the son of Otto R. Smithgall and the late Ina B. Callahan Smithgall. He was the owner and operator of Smithgall's Sheet Metal Works at Leesburg, Florida, a member and Deacon of the First Christian Church at Leesburg, the chairman of the Building Committee of the Church which had recently been completed with the first services in the new Church having been held Christmas Eve. He was an accomplished pilot having built and flown his own planes for several years. He attended and graduated from the Wellsboro Area Schools and moved to Florida approximately eighteen years ago. Those from this area attending the funeral services of the late William A. Smithgall of Leesburg, Florida, were his daughter, Mrs. Judy Hollenbeck and daughter, Amy; Robert E. Smithgall; Donald L. Smithgall; Frederick A. Smithgall; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Scase of Wellsboro and Mr. Raymond O. Smithgall of Canton, Pa.
