Individual Note: In the 1930's after her husband Charles' death, Ella lived with a boyfriend or new husband near Honesdale PA. She was proud of the fact that one of her sons was a mayor (Camden, NJ?). Maybe it was a step-son since there were no Schuttingers as mayor of Camden.
The 1930 Census lists Ella Shuttinger, 41, widowed and her sons living at 440 West Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA. Her sons are: Charles-Ab, 24; George, 23; Frank, 22. Charles is employed as a traveling magazine salesman. All were born in New York except Ella's father was born in the Irish free-state. Ella rents the apartment for $55 per month. The other boys are not employed. (March 29, 1930; E.D. 51-671; Sheet 11A). West Queen Lane is located off Wissahickon Avenue in the Tioga-Nicetown section of Philadelphia.
Ella Rankin's grandmother may have been Ellen Bower, widow of John Bower
