        Clarence J. Fry, 101, of 413 Clarence Fry Road, Montoursville, died Jan. 31, 2003, at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Upper Fairfield Twp. on July 28, 1901, he was the son of Jacob and Sara Lockard Fry.
       He was the widower of Miriam P. Swank, who died in Feb. 1960.
       Clarence farmed in Fairfield Twp. and he was a Township Supervisor there for 12 years. He was a 26-year member of the 3/4 Century Club of Montoursville.
       Surviving are a son, Raymond L. (Anna) of Montoursville; a daughter, Eleanor Parke of Lewisberry; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Clarence James; seven brothers, Samuel, Herbert, Walter, Arch, Lester, Willard and Russell; and four sisters, Alta Clees, Mertie Reeder, Vera Harris Starr and Hilda Kehrer.
       Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Matie E. Vonada
       Matie E. Fry Vonada, 95, a guest at ManorCare for the past six years, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the Williamsport Hospital. She was formerly of Woolrich and Jersey Shore.
       She was born in Jersey Shore on Oct. 16, 1906, one of 10 children to James and Alice Stradley Fulkrod. Her first husband, Russell Fry, died in 1966, and her second husband, Raymond Vonada, died in 1980.
       Earlier in her life, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Viola Mae Rebekah Lodge #73 of Jersey Shore. She was comforted in the fact that she was baptized on Oct. 30, 2003.
       Her survivors include three daughters, Lois E. Weidler of Rauchtown, Ester E. Simcox of McElhattan and Sharon J. Daugherty of Waynesboro; one son, Gary W. Fry of Dayton, Ohio, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
       A celebration of Matie’s life will begin with a visitation on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m. from the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Ted Van Schoick presiding. Burial will be in Linnwood Cemetery, McElhattan.
       Her family suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

     The 1930 census lists Clifton Fry, 21, living in Muncy Twp. Lycoming Co. PA with his wife, Ruth R. 23 and sister-in-law, Rachel L. Rigney, 25. Clifton rents his house and pays $12 per month. Clifton was 21 when first married and Ruth was 22. Clifton and his parents were all born in PA. Ruth was born in PA, her father in Virginia and mother in PA. Clifton is a weaver in a silk mill. Rachel is a teacher in a public school.
