The passenger list for the ship "Aller" departed from Bremen, Germany and arrived in New York City at Ellis Island on October 19, 1894. Siegfried Maisch, age 25, laborer is listed. He does not appear to be travelling with anyone. Microfilm Serial: M237

The 1900 Federal Census lists Frederick Maisch, 30 and his wife, Fredericka, 22 living at 697 10th Avenue, Manhattan, New York. They have two children Leo F., 1 and Elizabeth, 6 months; both born in NY. Fred is a Coal and Ice dealer. Both Fred and Fredericka were born in Germany; as were their parents. She immigrated in 1893. Fred came to the US in 1895. The apartment is rented. His citizenship status is AL. (June 9, 1900; E.D. 357; p. 109; sheet 9A. Line 41-44).

The 1920 Federal Census lists Fred Maisch, 50, and his wife, Anna M., 33 living at 134 N. Forest Avenue, Rockville Center, Hempstead Twp., Nassau Co., NY. Living with them are their children, Dora M. 8 and son, George F. 5. Dora and George were born in NY; Dora attends school. Fred and Anna were both born in Bavaria and speak German. Fred came to the US in 1894 and Anna in 1908. Fred's citizenships status is Pa and Anna's is Pa but crossed out. They both can read and write. Fred rents the house and is a watchman for the steam railroad. (January 16, 1920; E.D. 26; Sheet 11B)

The 1930 Federal Census lists Fred Maisch, 59 b. in Germany and his family living at 20 Forest Place, Rockville Centre, Hempstead Twp., Nassau Co., NY. Also living with him are his wife, Anna, 43; daughter, Dorothy, 19 and son George, 15; both born in NY. Fred was 39 when first married and Anna 23. All can read and write, only George is still in school. German is spoken in the home. Fred owns the house which is valued at $8000. They have a radio. Fred is a watchman for the railroad and has not been unemployed. His citizenship status is NA, Anna's is AL. He is not a veteran. Dorothy is a clerk in a bank. Research Note: On September 20, 2007, Sharon Pace Martini, toured the old neighborhoods of Hell's Kitchen. I attempted to find the address 697 10th Avenue, Manhattan, which is now a vacant lot, under contruction.
