Raymond L. Pentz, 57, of 20 N. Market St., Muncy, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at the Muncy Valley Hospital emergency room after being stricken at home.
       He and his wife of 21 years, the former Bonnie S. Charles, were married Nov. 20, 1981.
       For the past 18 years he worked on documentation for Construction Specialties Inc., Muncy.
       He was a 1963 graduate of Montgomery High School. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Edward Smith Post #3428, V.F.W., Muncy, and a member of the Glen Sharrow Post #35, American Legion, Hughesville. He was a member of the Muncy Historical Society and enjoyed genealogy. As a descendant of Peter Pence, he was actively involved in the dedication ceremony involving the Peter Pence marker in Oval. He was an avid camper.
       He was a member of New Covenant Assembly of God, Montgomery.
       Born Oct. 7, 1945, in Williamsport, he was the son of Paul LaRue and Mabel Mae Farnsworth Pentz.
       Surviving, in addition to his wife and his mother, of Montgomery, are two sons, Sheldon R. Reed of Benton and Joshua L. Pentz of Hughesville; three daughters, Deanna Rae Furman of Selinsgove, Robin Rae Pentz of Montgomery and Tammera S. Tripoli of Williamsport; three brothers, Paul L. Pentz, Jr. and the Rev. James R. Pentz, both of Montgomery, and Donald D. Pentz of Dewart; and seven grandchildren.
       The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at his church, 1270 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery. Officiating will be his pastor and brother, the Rev. James R. Pentz. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park with full military honors.
       Friends will be received at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to New Covenant Assembly of God, 1270 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery, PA 17752.
       Arrangements are being handled by Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Wanda E. Pentz

Wanda Elaine Pentz, 80, a resident of 1470 Brouse Road, Montgomery, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Washington Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Wednesday, April 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Earl S. Bastian and Mary Edna (White) Bigleman.

She was the wife of LeRoy C. Pentz with whom she celebrated a 61st wedding anniversary on May 12, 2007.

Elaine attended the White Hall School and Montgomery-Clinton High School. She had formerly been employed by the Montgomery Mills, the West Company and Carey McFalls all at Montgomery.

Elaine was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church at Montgomery, PA. Raised on a farm near Montgomery, she had a love for animals. She enjoyed going to antique car shows and riding in parades in their 1939 Packard and throwing candy to the children. Elaine was a member of the Susquehanna Region Antique Automobile Club of America and the Montgomery chapter of the Seniors Citizens of Lycoming County.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David (Gail) Pentz, Muncy, PA; Larry (Kathy) Pentz, Muncy, PA; Steven (Kathy) Pentz, Montgomery, PA; two daughters, Shirley (Eric) Sallach, Tijeras, NM; Karen Pentz, Unionville, PA; two sisters, Gladys Eleanor Oberdorf, Muncy, PA and Phyllis Jean (Bill) Kennedy, Montgomery, PA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Georgine Baker and two brothers, George Irvin Bastian and Charles Ramon Bastian.

Funeral services will be conducted from the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA at 11a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2007 with Reverend Zack LaBagh, her pastor, and Rev. James R. Pentz, her nephew, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA or on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA 17752.

Lawrence F. Bensinger

Mr. Lawrence F. Bensinger, 94, of 65 Hilltop Road, Montoursville and formerly of the Cogan Station area, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville.

Mr. Bensinger retired in 1973 from Norristown (PA) Ford, where he had been a service writer. He had previously been employed by the former Har-Wel Motors of Williamsport and had been employed as a delivery route salesman for the former Hurr's Dairy (Williamsport Milk Products Company), at South Williamsport.

Mr. Bensinger was a member of the Saint Michael Lutheran Church at Quiggleville and had previously been a member of the former Faith Lutheran Church at Cogan Station, where he had been a member of the church council and had taught Sunday school.

Mr. Bensinger was a member of the former Oak Knoll Hunting Club at Gamble Township, Lycoming County. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan. In his earlier days, he played and coached some team sports. He especially enjoyed attending baseball games at Bowman Field in Williamsport.

Mr. Bensinger was a graduate of the Class of 1929 of the South Williamsport High School and had attended Montgomery area Schools.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Caroline A. Barr Bensinger. She died January 14, 1994. They were united in marriage on June 9, 1934. Together they observed 59 years of marriage.

Born October 15, 1911, at Montgomery, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Mary A. Pentz Bensinger.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Janice B. Ranck of Montoursville; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor B. Dieffenbach of Williamsport and Mrs. Marguerite M. (Paul R.) DeWald of Duboistown; five grandchildren, Scott (Carol) Fink, Harold (Ruth) Fink, Mark (Sheryl) Ranck, Brian (Kim) Nice and Michael (Candy) Nice; eight great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

In addition to his late wife and late parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara B. Nice; his brother, Leonard G. Bensinger; and his granddaughter, Karen L. Fink.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2006, at the Saint Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 North Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. The Rev. Eric L. Deibler, church pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, Pa.

Relatives and friends may call at the Saint Luke Lutheran Church on the morning of Monday, February 6, 2006, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Flowers will be provided.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Lawrence F. Bensinger may be made, if so desired, to either Saint Michael Lutheran Church, 1877 Saint Michael?s Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728 or to Sycamore Manor Health Center, 1445 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.

Girl, 15, Dies in Accident
Karen Louise Fink, 15, who lived with hermother, Mrs. jance Fink of Cogan Station RD 2, was killed Saturday evening when her bicycle collided with a pickup truck.
The accident occurred on Route 15, a half mile south of Hepburnville at 7:30 pm. she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Williamsport Hospital.
Dr. William G. Hamm, a deputy county coroner, said Miss Fink died of brain damage as a result of (continued on Page 8, Col. 5) a fractured skull and a severe neck injury.
State police said Miss Fink was riding south on the edge of the highway when she swerved her bicycle in to the path of a truck driven by Ronald E. Bower, 36, also of Cogan Station RD 2. Damage totaled $680.
Miss Fink was born here on Feb. 18, 1958, the daughter of Harold E. Sr. and Janice E. Bensiner Fink. She was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church.
A nineth grade student at Roosevelt Junior High School last school year, Miss Fink would have been a sophomore at Williamsport High School next month.
Surviving are her mother, her father, of 1238 Cottage Avenue, three brothers, Scott A., Harold E. Jr., and Mark R. all at home; a half sister, Christine Marie, who lives with her father; grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Bensinger of Norristown, and Mrs. and Mrs. Howard Fink of this city and a maternal great-grandfather, Harry F. Bensinger of Lewisburg.
The funeral will be at 10 am Tuesday in the church, 1400 Market Street with the Rev. F.A. Donahoe, pastor of the Messiah Lutheran Church, South Williamsport officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers.
