Individual Note: She was the daughter of a farmer. The day (3/19/09) she was leaving for the US, she met Ben Pacacha, who had come to her father's farm to fit her brothers for overalls. She came to US in April 5, 1909 at age 17, through Ellis Island then to Pittsburgh where she was allowed to stay with her uncle, Frank Gaisor (Gasior). Her first job as a housekeeper for a familly left her little to eat, so she sought more gainful employment with the Mellon family. In early 1913, she attended a Saturday night dance, where she became reacquainted with Ben Pacacha. They were married later that year.
Mary had 5 brothers. Mary left Poland before her younger brother, Jan Pasek, was born. Sixty-two years later he came to visit his own son, Alfred, who had come to Pennsylvania in about 1960. Mary was 82 when she first met her brother. Alfred lived in Elizabeth Twp.
Mary Died at 1702 Iowa Avenue,
(pronounced Pa-sheck)
