Individual Note: PETER REEDER, lumber dealer, was born near Montoursville, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, October 4, 1827, son of Andrew and Anna (Kimble) Reeder. He was educated in the common schools, and began his business life as a farmer and drover, alternating with teaching school in the winter. In 1866 he engaged in the mercantile business in Hughesville, and also the lumber business; he has built thirteen houses in Hughesville, and is still engaged in lumbering, but sold his mercantile store in 1887 to Reeder & Derr. In 1878 he was elected to the State legislature; he has been county auditor, and has served on the school board and council of Hughesville. He was married, September 15, 1853, to Sarah F., daughter of Henry Ritter, and to them were born nine children: Annie, born July 1, 1854, who married William L. Laird; Lizzie, who was born July 25, 1856, and died May 23, 1890; Robert K., whose sketch appears elsewhere; Margaret, born March 6, 1860; Henry C., born September 25, 1862, who is a civil engineer of Williamsport; Charles, born April 2, 1864; Milton, born March 18, 1866; Frank A., born June 17, 1869, and Jessie May, who was born November 1, 1875, and died July 28, 1876. Individual Note: The 1870 census states that Henry Wanck's father was of foreign birth. Henry also probably had a brother, John Wanck, 44, who lived next door.

Henry Wenck, aged 73 years 8 months and 29 days, died of paralysis at his residence near Campbellsville, Pa, Friday August 21st, 1891. Deceased was a highly esteemed citizen and was well known, having been born on the old homestead where he died.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, burial at Greenwood cemetery near the homestead; Rev. Pittman, of Forksville, officiating.
During his illness of about three weeks all the children were permitted to visit and administer to his wants. He remained conscious of their presence to the last.
They will miss a kind father's welcome as they return to the old home hereafter.
The family desire to return their heartfelt thanks to friends and neighbors who assisted during his sickness and death.

The 1930 Census of Plain Grove Township, Lawrence Co. PA lists Frank Alessio 38, and his wife, Rosa, 34 and their children: Catherine, 11; Jenaline, 10; Mary, 8; Laura, 6; Irene, 4 yrs. 2 months; and Frank, 1 yr 8 months. They also have a boarder, Tony Gelonase, 50, living with them. Frank owns the house which is worth $1300. They have a radio. Frank and Rosa were both born in Italy, as were their parents. Neither Frank nor Rosa can read or write English. All the children were born in PA and attend school. Italian is spoken in the house, but they can speak English. No immigration date given. Frank was 25 when first married and Rosa, 21. Frank works as a miner in a coal mine. They live only one house away from Frank's brother Paul.

Catherine Sainato
Ceramics teacher, vendor was born in Plain Grove
FARRELL -- Catherine Sainato, 842 Shields Road, Boardman, Ohio, died at 9 p.m. Monday (4-3-00) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 81.
Mrs. Sainato was born March 11, 1919, in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, to Frank Alessio and Rose Sansaloni Alessio Sr.
The self-employed ceramics teacher was a ceramics vendor at flea markets including Four Seasons, Campbell, Ohio; and Michaelangelo’s, New Castle.
Mrs. Sainato also was a Watkins Products distributor.
She was a member of St. Christine’s Church, Youngstown.
Her husband, Dominic Sainato, whom she married July 24, 1943, died May 25, 1993.
Surviving are: a stepson, Frank, Austintown, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Bucci, Poland, Ohio; four sisters, Mary Schmizzi, Detroit; Loretta Bartell, Boca Raton, Fla.; Vera Cortez, New Castle; and Amelia Alessio, Livonia, Mich.; and six grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Alessio Jr.; and a sister, Jennie Pedulla.
