Marriage Announcement from the Gazette & Bulletin, Williamsport, PA September 14, 1946
Janet Hoffman Weds in Church
The marriage of Miss Janet Arlene Hoffman, daughter of Mr & Mrs. R.N. Hoffman of Trenton, NJ and Fred Smithgall, son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank L. Jury, 805 Centre Street was solemnized in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Trenton, NJ on August 25.
The Rev. W.B. Luckenbill performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Michael Schulze, sister of the bride, was matron of honor.
The bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Metzger, and Miss Miriam Hoffman both of Harrisburg.
Thomas Nichols, city, brother-in-law of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Milton Rubin and Michael Schulze, Trenton.
April Adaire Hoffman, niece of the bride, was the ringbearer.
Following the ceremony a dinner-dance was held at the Hotel Stacy Trent.
Mr. & Mrs. Smithgall are residing in Harrisburg where he is employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.

Fred and Anna both came from Bavaria or Bayern in Germany. Their villages were about 55 miles apart. Fred's village of Unterelsbach was north of Anna's Astheim am Main.

Bridal Party for Tomorrow is Announced
The marriage of Miss Mabel Sarah Smithgall, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Smithgall of 451 East Canal Street, and Eugene Miele, son of Mr & Mrs. Paul Miele of 637 Lycoming Street, will take place Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in Mater Dolorosa Church. The Rev. Alphonsus Manley will perform the ceremony.
Miss Smithgall's maid of honor and only attendant will be Miss Georgiana Fry of Sunbury. Mr. Miele will be attended by Anthony Pasnello, of this city, as best man, and by Ernest Miele, his brother, and Michael Vicchiarelli, as ushers.
A wedding breakfast for 50 guests will be held at the home of the bridegroom's parents and a reception will be held in the afternoon and evening at Arcadia Hall.
Another announcement was made in the Sun-Gazette on Friday, October 15, 1937 stating essentially the same information with the following added facts:
Mr. & Mrs. Miele left for a trip to Pittsburgh and Cleveland and will reside at 637 Lycoming St.
The bridegroom is a graduate of the Williamsport High School, class of 1928 and employed by the Stern Brothers clothing store.
